Well, to my simple ears, this Miller has a little more clarity and umph to it. May simply be a result of tweaking with the levels, but it does beat out the other by a hair in my book.

I agree they are a touch better. I was just trying to point out that the most cited version of these shows are the Bertrando recordings and these are upgrades of the Kaslow/Todd recordings of which the 8-5-71 was not available here.

Charlie,

I was referring to this link not the one that you transferred:

http://www.archive.org/details/gd71-08-06.aud.bertrando.yerys.129.sbeok.shnf

Are you saying Bertrando did not record this? If not then this should be corrected.

And while I have you on the line, thank you so much for all the great work including the upgrade of the show in question in here. We are so fortunate to have people like you not only keeping the music alive but constantly making it better.

cheers,

larry

All circulating sources originate from Harvey's master. Rob Bertrando did not record this show. He did however circulate Harvey's recording.

Thank you for the clarification. The information provided on that link is a bit misleading.

Have you two AUD-o-philes gotten ahold of Road Trips 3 yet? You must do this. This is an officially sanctioned Prime Ministerial Decree. The sound is great. Interestingly, I find it a nice complement to compare the AUD and now these commercial releases of Bertha, Mr Charlie and of course, HtoH. The sound on Mr. Ch is just astounding. Makes me appreciate even more how nice the old (and these new I am sure) AUDs were.

71 ain't half bad I've decided though I am still searching high and low for an Eleven...

Very funny, I made a comment the other day at Chatzy that buying RT 1-3 was not a suggestion it should be mandated. And yes I went right to the bonus disc to compare the 8-6 cuts to the aud. I agree they sound great but the H2H is missing something without the crowd reaction to Jerry's solo. I think that why a great aud beats a sbd every time. Just too bad we don't have auds of the early years like these two shows. Imagine what an 8-6-71-quality aud of 10-12-68 might sound like.....

Agreed--I just can't find 8-6 quality AUDs for my period...

Good to see you and SDH around, Elb; spending a bit more time over at the Hook, but miss the likes of you two...

Thanks, been kind of busy myself and haven't been here very much until last week or so. I do hang out with both lma and hook folks at Chatzy though. Hope to see you here more often, who will lead us if this place ever goes dark again?
